The quality of architecture is not only present in the visual appearance, finishes and fittings of the
building nor one that purely achieves accommodation schedules or budget constraints but equally
an approach that during the design process integrates and responds positively with the environment
around it for the comfort and benefit of the occupants who use it.

Software
From the outset, the practice established what it felt was the most appropriate software on the
market to communicate its ideas and designs to our most valuable asset ? the client. To achieve
this we need to communicate efficiently with the wider consultant team (structural engineers,
surveyors etc.) and use IT and CAD at the centre of the design development of all of our projects
directly with the client, planning authority or public in general. We use AutoDesk AutoCAD LT latest versions because it is the most widely used CAD software
for the design industry. In addition to this, we examine the early feasibility of the project using
3D modelling packages, which enables us to provide immediate 3-dimensional feed back to
the client regarding site massing, scale, form and shadow studies. From these preliminary CAD
investigations we can either develop the scheme or provide high quality rendered visualisations
as found on our projects page of the website. The practice has invested in a fully networked system from its inception and has made a policy to
maintain the development of IT systems, software and training to ensure the offices resources are
effectively utilised for any sized project and timescale. The practice uses Microsoft Office for all its documentation and has trained staff in the use of
NBS Building (Specification Writer). Presentation is fundamental, so we utilise the power of
the Adobe Creative Suite ? Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign and Acrobat Professional. |
